An illustration of judges and judicial candidates

Every six years, Cook County circuit judges ask voters for another term on the bench in what’s known as a retention vote. (Illinois Appellate Court judges run for retention every 10 years.) This November, more than 75 Cook County judges are up for retention.

Injustice Watch researches each Cook County judicial candidate for our comprehensive judicial election guide. We examine their professional backgrounds, political connections, high-profile cases, and cases where their decisions have been overturned by a higher court. We send all the judges a survey to learn about their judicial philosophy and to give them a chance to make their case directly to voters.

We also want to hear from people who have first-hand experience with these judges, either as a lawyer or litigant in their courtroom or through other professional or personal interactions.

Here is a list of every Cook County judge up for retention this year and their current court assignment. If you have had an experience with any of these judges, please fill out the form below. Your answers will be kept confidential and we’ll only reach out to you if you give us permission to do so.
